About the role
Join Independence Australia as a Senior Accounts Officer and support the Accounts Receivable team while providing guidance to Accounts Officers and helping ensure effective debt collection and credit control processes.

Provide leadership and day-to-day guidance to Accounts Officers, acting as a key point of reference for accounts receivable and debt collection activities
Oversee and support debt collection processes, ensuring outstanding debts are recovered within agreed credit terms
Monitor overdue accounts, investigate discrepancies, and assist with complex customer account queries and escalations
Support month-end processes and reporting, including reconciliations, debtor ageing analysis, and financial data accuracy
Contribute to process improvements, system accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Accounts Receivable function

About you

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, credit control, or debt collection, ideally in a high-volume environment
Certificate IV in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar
Proven ability to guide, mentor, or support junior staff, with strong leadership and collaboration skills
Strong understanding of credit management, debtor recovery, and accounts reconciliation
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage sensitive customer conversations professionally
Intermediate Excel and financial system experience (Greentree experience highly regarded)
