Accountant

We are looking for an Accountant to join our finance team at Stratarama. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of general accounting duties, including financial reporting, taxation compliance, budgeting, and assisting in the management of the company's financial activities. Task & responsibilities

General Accounting:

• Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals
• Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure financial accuracy

Financial Reporting:

• Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports for internal stakeholders
• Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS reports

Tax Compliance:

• Prepare and file tax returns, including GST and PAYG obligations
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal taxation regulations
• Assist in audits and prepare related documentation

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist with the preparation of financial budgets and forecasts for the business
• Track and report on variances from budgeted figures

Client Support:

• Liaise with clients, providing financial insights and answering queries
• Help set up and maintain accounting systems for clients

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CA qualification preferred, but not essential
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an accounting role
• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar)
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation regulations
• Experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, and budget management
• High level of attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of Strata and property management accounting would be advantageous
